Walt had given the orders to the ghosts in the mansion for the front door to be opened. Somewhat relieved from his secrecy against his friends, he’s beginning to feel like a new man! Yen Sid, Mickey, Terrance, and Rachel were just walking out the door when Walt stopped only two of them in the group.

“Rachel, Mickey? Come with me real quick.” Walt ordered.

Terrance turned around to the princess not feeling as pleasurable as he should. He was supposed to have Rachel back at the castle to get her prepared for the Princess Social within six and a half hours! He rushed back to her, Mickey and Walt Disney filling up with clutter in his mind. There’s so much to do with so little time.

“Uh Walt, you know we both hate it when I get in your way of things,” Terrance began, “but Rachel doesn’t have enough time to see what you want her to see now. She needs to get ready for tonight.”

“Terrance, will you relax?” Rachel asked, “Do I have to keep reminding you we’ve got plenty of time. I’ll be fine. Why don’t you wait for me out here until I come back?”

“Princess…”

“And would you just call me ‘Rachel?’ You know I don’t entirely rule the kingdom just yet.”

“It just feels disrespectful. What am I supposed to do about that?”

“Think about respecting how I feel being called that so many times?”

“Ha ha ha, she’s got you there, boy.” Walt chuckled.

“Shut it.” Terrance grunted.

“Just stay?” Rachel begged.

“Okay. I’ll wait here.”

“Good, I won’t be long. Mickey?”

“I’ve got nowhere else to go mainly because I still have the day off today.” said Mickey., “Besides, it would be nice to reconnect on things here.”

“You two coming or what?” Walt called out.

“We’re coming!” Rachel replied and then turned back to Terrance, “I’ll be back.”

Rachel and Mickey run back up to Walt into the mansion leaving Terrance behind at the front. Once again nervous for her safety even though he could finally trust Walt and his guts, Terrance watched his princess going back to the man who started everything this world has today and what had became a part of his life. Rachel’s excitement was easy to see from the boy’s perspective it was almost as if Walt was trying to take her away from him. His love. His living beauty. How he wished he had told her earlier of his disposition and hope for the very best in life. He was almost convinced enough that Rachel was beginning to see something in him, but learning the truth Walt’s life still in existence had brought Terrance down to his deepest despair. Whether or not he still needed her to come back to the castle to get ready for the Princess Social, he was beginning of having the urge inside to just grab her, hold her close, and just take her away. But would it really make the girl happy if he did that, he thought? Probably not. Rachel’s very independent about what she believes in and her safety barrier; there was no way he would want to make her feel hurt just for love. Plus, he doesn’t want to deal with all the slapping again. The doors close behind the three and leaving Terrance out.

“You seem to be jealous, are you not?” asked Yen Sid who was standing behind Terrance for a while.

“No, I’m not!” Terrance shouted, “…Well, perhaps a little. I probably wouldn’t be if Walt wouldn’t have revealed himself sooner.”

“You mustn’t put so much faulty on the man. It was bad enough that he had to hide from the world for forty-five years.”

“I know. But Rachel was always right here with me and I could’ve had a chance to reveal myself to her. Now she’s too excited be with Walt than to even look at me. I feel so unwanted here.”

“You only feel unwanted because she doesn’t know. When will that time come for you two, you might wonder? The answer is when you have the courage to tell her. If you love her so, I am sure you will find the answer to your fate. If she does not love you in return, that is up to her. If so, well, you may be lucky. My boy, look at me. Look at me, Terrance.” Terrance looked up to Yen Sid as Yen Sid continued, “Don’t worry about Walt. He’s much too old of a man despite the immortality of him and his name. On that note, it would only give him much more pain to find a woman who would be far greater or equal to his wife now passed. And I’m sure looking down, Lillian wouldn’t like hearing that.” he chuckled.

“Your point is?”

“All I’m saying is that you have nothing to worry about. Rachel is strong and kind and independent. But you know that already. Once you give her the chance to learn more of you, I’m sure you two would become as equal as ever.”

Terrance smiled at his master ala his guardian. Even though Yen Sid is wise about many things, it’s words like that he doesn’t often hear. Usually, it’d be words of instruction for keeping the tower clean, doing his homework, or words of wisdom when it comes to either him being scolded down too or being sympathetic, but these words were much different. In all his life, Terrance had never often been taught about love for another even if it was before he first fell in love for Rachel.

“May I ask you something?” Terrance asked.

“Of course.” said Yen Sid.

“How come you never talked to me much about this sort of thing in the past? You know, when I was, well…younger? Did I ask too much?”

“You know I enjoy listening to you and your willingness to learn, but for me not telling you had nothing to do with it. You were so young to finding love for another girl and I have sort of foresaw that I would have given you the wrong advice. It has been many long years since I had experienced true love with my Clara. Plus, aside from your high intelligence quotient (IQ) in almost everything I have taught you, you seemed to have been breaking the one rule that Walt had inquired for so long.”

“And what is that?” Terrance questioned.

“You were growing up too fast. Yen Sid replied. “If I had a dime for every moment I could remember you still a young lad for a boy, I’d probably have enough riches to invest on how much I would give to see you grow up and move on in without a worry in the world. You are my son and I love you no matter what.”

“Master, you’ve…sniff…you’ve never called me that since after you’ve adopted me. Because of that, I was scared of the impression you would’ve given if I’d call you ‘father’ instead of my master.”

“That’s what you were so worried about me all these years?” Yen Sid smiled, “You thought I’d be mad?” Terrance nodded and Yen Sid resumed, “Terrance, nothing would have given me much more joy than to hear you call me that everyday. I am so sorry I had made you feel this way and I’m sorry I’ve never called you my son all this time! Truly, I am.”

“It’s alright. I guess we were both a little nervous on what to expect.”

“Like you and Rachel for instance.”

“…I’m planning on telling her tonight after the Princess Social. You’ll keep your fingers crossed?”

“I wouldn’t dream not to.” Yen Sid showed his fingers crossing for proof.

Terrance started off with a giggle that turned into a reluctant sniffle and tears. Immediately, he hugged his master tightly and cried aloud in his blue robe. Never in either one of their lives would Yen Sid or Terrance feel so much grief on each other despite living a grand healthy magical life. Perhaps in their minds it was something that they had never thought they would see eye-to-eye without knowing. Either way, it was finally out of their systems.

“Father…” Terrance cried.

*******************************************************************************************

The three of them walked upstairs making sure the wood wouldn’t snap from underneath. With a torch in hand, Walt opened his bedroom door and invited his guests in. It was a little messy; there were some old photos lying around and antiques standing in the corner all dusty and such and of course: moths. They were everywhere! Opening the window, the mouse, the girl and the man shooed away the moths outside until there were no more to be seen. A lot of work needs to be done in this mansion and Walt knew that all along.

Walt walked up to his closet and pulled out a large chest. It was a little heavy for him so Rachel stepped up to help.

“Whew, thanks.” said Walt, “I may be alive here, but I don’t entirely have as much strength as I did back home in Burbank. Dying over there kinda did a number on me.”

“Well, you had a little over forty-five years to work on that.” said Rachel, “What’s in this chest?”

“Only a few memories from being alive and mortal.” he answered. Walt opened the chest to a cluttered disposition of his old trinkets. Quite a mess, but it’s his stuff all right.

“Hey, I remember this!” Mickey pulled out an old card that had a picture of Horace Horsecollar watching Walt drawing Mickey. “It’s one of those old cards kids used to get when they would buy bubble gum!”

“Dang, I didn’t know you guys gave these out.” said Rachel.

“Clearly because you weren’t born yet.” said Walt, “We made ninety-six comics and posted them one cards for kids to collect. If only their mothers ever got them to keep brushing their teeth when they’d finish chewing all that gum.”

“Sometimes, I’d either chew gum or have ice cream when I’d get upset. Kind of gets the pressure off of me, you know? Ah!” she screamed, “What is that?” Rachel pointed at a creepy looking Mickey Mouse mask. Not like one she’d ever seen.

“Oh that? That’s one of the old Mickey Mouse gas masks we made for kids for World War II. It was supposed make regular gas masks seem less frightening for them.”

“Less frightening? I’m eighteen-years-old and I’m frightened at this right now!”

“At least looking at it wasn’t too much of a problem.” said Mickey, “I remember Walt and some of the other artists used to sneak up behind me and pop one of them at my face! I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror for weeks!”

“Hey Mickey?” Walt spoke.

“What?”

“Boo!” Walt popped the mask in front of Mickey’s face just as he said.

“Ah!…Don’t do that!”

“Ha ha ha ha! Whew! That never gets old.”

“…Is this her?” Rachel asked Walt.

“Who?”

Rachel pulled up a picture of Walt in his early years and a lovely woman standing next to him. He was holding a Mickey doll and the woman beside him walked with him on a spot where it looked like they could have been on a boat. Walt took the picture and with his fingertips he stroked the hair of the woman.

“Lilly,” Walt said, “my Lilly.”

“Mom…” Mickey murmured under his breath.

Rachel made a little smile and said, “She is beautiful.”

“She is, isn’t she?” Walt smiled.

“So…nobody else is here in the Disney Worlds?” she asked, “Lilly? Some artists you’ve admired? What about your brother, Roy?”

“Nobody's here with me. I may have the company of you, Mickey and every one of my creations here, but concerning the lives of whom I’ve known out in the real world, I’m all alone.”

“Not technically.” said Mickey, “Yen Sid and Merlin used to belong to the real world before you made them well, ‘Disney-fied,’ ha ha. Shouldn’t they be counted, too?”

“I suppose you’re right.” Walt then looked at Lillian in the picture, “Oh Lilly, would I give to be with you again whether in here or in Heaven.”

“Is there anyone else who’ve known that’s still alive in the real world?” she asked.

“There’s Diane Marie, my daughter.” Walt answered.

“Oh yeah, I totally forgot!” Mickey spoke aloud.

“Have you at least contacted her?” Rachel asked.

“No,” said Walt, “I’ve had no contact with anyone out there since I died. I was always afraid that if I showed myself out there in the living flesh, people, like you have, would’ve been angry to think I lied to them about being dead and gone forever.”

“And here I thought being ‘remembered alive’ was enough.”

“Hey check this one out!”

“What?” Rachel and Mickey both asked.

“It’s a picture of all of us at your christening, Rachel. Look, you parents are in there, too!”

“No! Get that away from me!” Rachel closed her eyes and shouted.

“What?”

“I don’t want to see my parents! Not now!”

“W-Why ever not-”

“I just don’t! Can’t you just leave it at that?”

Walt looked at Mickey and then back at Rachel and spoke, “It’s Olin, isn’t it? You’re scared to see if you knew who and what they looked like, Olin might go after them.”

Rachel sighed, “I can’t let him do this to my family again. Not now, not ever, and who knows how long it would take to defeat Olin? Who’s to say I defeat Olin by the time it’s too late to ever see them again?”

Placing both hands on her shoulders, he spoke, “You will see them again. We know it. It shouldn’t hurt to just take one little peek, wouldn’t it? Come on, one look.”

Rachel tilted her eyes behind her a little. Would she even dare to take one eensy-weensy teeny tiny look at the birth parents that had sent her away for her safety yet put them at the highest risks to their fate like her adopted family’s? Forceful voices barked and shouted in her mind telling her to look at them or don’t look at them. Reluctant tears fell down her cheeks the more they shouted at her. She didn’t know what to do. She turned away from Walt and Mickey clutching the stuffed bunny she’s held the entire time she’s been in the mansion. Finally, she began to calm down a little bit.

“Take that photo away from me.” she said, “I can’t take any chances.”

Walt took the photo and put it back in the chest and then he held her close to his heart. Mickey joined into the group hug for Rachel’s comfort. The girl could do only nothing but clench onto Walt’s shirt and cry. There could nothing more sorrowful than to reject the chance of seeing the parents she’s never seen yet have saved her harm since birth. She wants her mother and she wants her father so badly. She wants them and their love. Though she wishes with all her heart for them, she does not have the heart right now to wish it.

“Sniff…Walt,” Rachel whispered, “…Terrance is waiting is me. I have to go back to him.”

“Okay.” said Walt, “Mickey?”

“I’m not going anywhere right now.” said Mickey, “I want to stay with you for the rest of the day.”

“All right. Stay here, then. Let’s go, Rachel.”

Rachel nods and stands up beside Walt. Suddenly, her heart was hurting and she clutched her chest. Pain was crawling inside her. Rachel suddenly remembered the grim spirits that were in her nightmares just days ago. She faced Torture, Fear and Misery and they all laughed at her fiercely. The poor princess fell to her knees, not letting go of her heart. It hurt her even more the more she kept thinking about them. The cackling grew louder and surrounded her like a surround stereo box.

Suddenly, Rachel was starting to hear softer voices calling to her by name. There were two voices and they sounded so kind and angelic. Light illuminated all around her, shooing away the dark grim spirits who despised the light. Rachel continued to cry when a woman’s soft hand felt her head, her shoulder, and her cheek. Her dream self turned around to see who was with her but saw no one. There was so much light she couldn’t see anyone. Then another hand, a man’s hand, petted her head and kissed her there.

“Rachel…” said a man’s voice.

“Who’s there?” Rachel’s dream self spoke.

“It’s me, Rachel.” the man’s voice answered, “Your father.”

“Rachel, dear.” said a woman’s voice, “My beautiful daughter.”

“Mother? Father?” Rachel spoke. “Where are you?”

“We are here, my Rachel.” said the mother, “We always have and always will be.”

“I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry I didn’t want to see you.” Rachel cried, “ I thought if I looked at you I would’ve risked your lives under Olin’s hand. I didn’t want anything to happen to you. Not like my past family. Not ever, never!”

“No no no no no, shh-,” the father’s arms hugged her gently, “There is no need to apologize. You would never hurt us no matter what you would do. But perhaps you probably realize how much we may have hurt you for not being there for you.”

“No, you've never hurt me because I didn’t know. I never realized anything until the day came when my brother died. I felt so blind!”

“You are never blind, my dear.” said the mother as she joined in the hug, “We had hoped and prayed you would live a wonderful life until you would finally know of you’re destiny whether or not you had to face your opponents. We can see so far that our prayers have answered. Now look where you are now.”

“I wouldn’t get too happy right now if I were you.” said Rachel “There’s still a chance that Olin may-”

“No, Rachel! There is never a chance that Olin will destroy you!” the father calmly raised his voice, “We know you will stop Olin and win the battles he sends after you. You are strong, brave, beautiful and very well loved. You have everything you need in the Disney Worlds to keep you safe.”

“The magic?”

“The love, princess.” said the mother. “The love. Before you born, the Moon spirit told me that so long as we love you, your heart, mind and soul would strengthen you for all of eternity. We love you so much, Rachel. We will always love you no matter what life brings you.”

“Love cannot possibly make me feel you’re with me besides right now.” said Rachel, “Without you two, I’m all alone.”

“You are never alone, my daughter.” said the father, “We have always, and will be, with you throughout all of the odds. And we will most definitely be with you when you face Olin in your greatest clash. We’re here…we’re here…”

The mother and father’s voices were fading away from Rachel. She could barely hear them; she wanted to hear more.

“No, please, don’t leave me!” Rachel cried, “Mother, father, please don’t leave me now!”

“We are never leaving, Rachel.” said the mother, giving her one last kiss on the forehead, “We love you.”

“Mother! Father!”

“Rachel!” another voice shouted aloud.

Rachel eyes snapped open immediately when she heard the loud voice. The only thing she first saw was Walt. He stood there in front of her with a worried look on his face.

“Rachel, what’s wrong?” Walt asked, “What happened?”

She panted deep sighs until she was ready to speak.

“Walt, was is it true when you said that my real mother and father still loved me?” she asked.

“Yes, yes it’s true.”

Rachel hid her smile and said, “That’s all I want to know. Will you bring me back to Terrance now?”

“Of course.” Walt slightly smiled back holding out his arm for her escort.

Rachel took his arm and they both started heading out of the mansion.

*******************************************************************************************

Once again, the front doors open as Rachel and Walt Disney stepped outside into the light where Terrance and Yen Sid stood. Rachel let go of Walt’s grasp and ran to Terrance. She hugged him tightly, which is what Terrance always loved so much from her. He began to think there was something different about her. Hopefully, it’s a good difference.

“Did something happen in there, my princess?” Terrance inquired.

“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” Rachel replied, “Will you take me back to the castle now?”

“As you wish, Princess Rachel.”

“You two run along now.” said Yen Sid, “There are still some things Walt, Mickey, and I need to discuss.”

“Okay, we’ll see you soon.” said Rachel.

Terrance brought Rachel to his horse, he mounted her up, and they trotted off back to the Disney World castle. Meanwhile, Walt and Yen Sid stood there and began a small question-and-answer conversation.

“Tell me, Walt. What just happened in there?” asked Yen Sid, “I could have sworn I’ve heard Rachel weeping inside.”

“Nothing, really. Rachel was just learning about family love between her and her parents.”

“Did she see a picture of them?”

“I was going to show her, but she told me not to. I tried to convince her, but she wouldn’t come out of it.”

“It was the same with me today, but do not fear. One day, she will figure out that she will need her family and friends more than ever.”

“I think she already does.”

“Hmm…”

*******************************************************************************************

"It’s no use, sir. We’ve looked everywhere!” said one of Olin’s henchmen.

They’ve covered all over Disneyland and California Adventure and there is still no sign of Rachel, Yen Sid, or any Disney character or sorcerer of any kind. Infuriated by the fact, Olin threw his papers and plans to the ground and stomped on them simultaneously and threw a tantrum. People were looking at him weird as they passed by him. Where and how the hell has that little brat gone, Olin thought to himself. This mission has become a complete nuisance to his career.

“Rachel, where the hell are you!” Olin screamed.

“Sir, calm down.” said the first henchman, “I’m sure we can search the place all over again in case if there are any pieces that needed to be picked up-”

“And what good will that do for us?” Olin shouted, “By doing that, we’d only be going in a circle all over again! And you should know how furious I can get when I don’t get what I want.”

“We know, sir.” said the second henchman, “But for now, let’s start by taking a few deep breaths.”

“Fine!” Olin closed his eyes and breathed. He felt a little better, but that was only the beginning of his pleasure.

Olin spotted in the distance an elderly woman, about in her late seventies, but this wasn’t just any elderly woman. Olin made an evil smile and chuckled. He knew exactly whom he is seeing.

“Uh, sir?” the second henchman spoke, “What are you smiling at?”

“There’s a woman talking to a small group of people heading towards the Walt and Mickey statue.” Olin answered.

“So?” said the first henchman.

“So, look who’s here.”

The henchmen looked over where Olin was pointing at and they, too immediately recognized who this particular woman was. They shot a glance of worry to each other. No one, not even Olin knows what’s going on in their minds, but whatever it was, they are not happy.

“You have a large bag, don’t you?” Olin asked.

“Yes.” they said.

“Meet me under the tunnel way in the castle next to the Snow White Wishing Well. Don’t bag the person I will be bringing until I say so.”

Olin left the two henchmen behind beside the Matterhorn and headed towards the woman at the statue. He eyed at the elderly woman who stood with the small group giving autographs and taking quick photos. Judging by the scenario, the woman must be famous and everyone must know who she is. Olin most certainly does.

“Excuse me, you wouldn’t happen to be Walt Disney’s daughter, Diane, would you?”

“Yes, I am. Hello.” said Diane.

“Hi, how are you?”

“I am fine, how are you?”

“I am good, thank you. How may I help you?”

“With a lot, I believe. Will you walk with me while we talk?”

“Of course. It will be nice to be acquainted with you.”

“Oh, my dear Diane. The pleasure is all mine.” Olin said hiding away his evil smirk, “Believe me.”
I figured I should have put in a few special parenthood moments for the gang. The part where Rachel first hears her parent's voices was where I really poured my heart out into writing. I literally almost cried! And since I have been so busy with everyone going on in the Haunted Mansion with Walt Disney, I thought I'd bring back Olin towards the end of the chapter for a little suspense. I get it, you may be wondering where the Moon spirit ala Rachel's mistress has been all this time now. Don't worry, I'll try to put her back in the story as soon as the story keeps going. Chapter twenty four should come out soon. I'll make sure of that. Happy Reading! Reading
